Tidal flat, North Sea, Germany/Colours of the Earth

When the water of the North See withdraws during the tide, it leaves behind a network of tidal creeks clearly visible in the North Friesian Islands' mudflat. These are the canals in which the sea water flows back to the sea. Algae give it green colour. The tide has left ripples on the sand, giving it a scaly pattern. (aerial view)
