The Grand Barra is a hilly area in the Djibouti Desert, where sand-filled basins are located. Water gathers in these basins during the rare rainfalls and then gradually evaporates. For a short time only, the basins are transformed into lakes, surrounded by sand and sandy water. (aerial view)
