Malaspina Glacier, Alaska, USA/Glaciers

25 ice tongues, coming down from the Wrangel-St.Elias-Mountains, unite to become one of the world’s biggest piedmont glaciers – the Malaspina glacier. It is 70 km wide and covers the area of 4000 square kilometres. One part of its ice surface is completely covered by dark strips of moraine rubble. (aerial view)
