The River Ewaso Ng’iro transports soil, sand and salts out of the Kenyan highlands into Lake Natron, a large saline lake on the border between Kenya ans Tanzania. At its estuary, the river forms many branches, in which many halophilic plants flourish, giving the river banks their vivid green colour. (aerial view)
