Water is the most important landscape shaping force on earth. Bernhard visualizes this in amazing, colorsaturated, seemingly abstract images – from both, the air and the ground – in his new photo book WATER.

WATER was published in August 2015 by Prestel Publishing House (Munich – London – New York). It shows water in all its forms – rivers and streams, deltas and floodplains, surging on coasts, frozen in glaciers, as vaporous clouds, and plumes over erupting volcanoes. The images show water on every continent.

His pictures not only document the beauty of these places but they also tell a story of the changes our earth and its water systems are undergoing as the result of climate change—from desertification to Arctic thaw and rising sea levels.

The text was written by the science journalist Angelika Jung-Hüttl.

Further information on the book is to be found at the Prestel Publishing House web site.
