At the tip of a glacier, the ice sometimes breaks off in slender blocks. This can be seen particularly on the Perito Moreno Glacier in the Los Glaciares National Park, Argentinien, which opens into an arm of Lago Argentino. The individual towers of blue ice bend under their own weight.
