It is one of the major outlet glaciers of the famous Campo Hielo Norte, the Northern Patagonian IceField, in southern Chile. It calves into the Laguna San Rafael, a bay, which is connected to the Pacific Ocean. San Rafael Glacier is the tidewater glacier nearest the equator. (aerial view)
