The four summits of Höfats (highest altitude 2259 m) are the most prominent peaks in the Allgäu Alps. Here, hard limestone and soft marl aggregate. Due to the latter’s moistness, a thick layer of grass covers the very steep ridges, which makes the Allgäuer Grasberge (Allgäu Grass Mountains) unique within the Alps. (aerial view)
