Malaspina Glacier 02, Alaska, USA/Patterns of the Earth

Banded - One part of the glacier tongue is nearly completely covered by straight-edged, dark stripes of moraine rubble. The Malaspina Glacier is the biggest piedmont glacier in the world. Here more than 25 glacier tongues from the Wrangell-St.Elias Range meet in one huge ice mass whose ice bands are laid parallely to the bands of moraine debris. (aerial view)
